Vernier Total Solar Eclipse Campaign Wins Silver in the 2017 One Planet® Best in Business and Professional Excellence Awards

BEAVERTON, Oregon, February 13, 2018 — The Vernier Software & Technology Total Solar Eclipse campaign recently won a Silver award in the 2017 One PlanetBest in Business and Professional Excellence Awards in the PR or Marketing Campaign of the Year category. The ongoing, multi-pronged campaign celebrating last summer’s Great American Eclipse provides tips, resources, and data that STEM teachers can use to teach students about a real-world physical phenomenon throughout the year.

The One Planet Awards is the world's premier awards program honoring the best in business and professional excellence in every industry. The awards recognize outstanding individuals, executives, teams, new products and services, PR, marketing, corporate communications, and organizations worldwide.

“It is a great honor to be recognized for the Total Solar Eclipse campaign and our company’s commitment to science education,” said John Wheeler, CEO of Vernier Software & Technology. “The campaign reached thousands of educators, provided valuable data-collection resources, and, most importantly, supported students nationwide in making real-world, scientific connections tied to a natural phenomenon.”

As part of the campaign, Vernier provided educators with resources and tips for incorporating data collection into the eclipse viewing experience. Examples of the data collected by educators using Vernier technology are available for free on the Vernier website. Sample data by Dave Vernier was also included in an article about the eclipse in The Physics Teacher. Educators can use the data throughout the year to teach students about the scientific aspects of a solar eclipse.
