Lexia PowerUp Literacy Wins Tech & Learning“Best of Show”Award at ISTE 2018
– Lexia Learning today announced that its online literacy program Lexia PowerUp Literacy (PowerUp) received Tech & Learning’s2018 ISTE Best of Show award. The awards were presented at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) annual conference in Chicago.
For the fifth year, Tech & Learning’sISTE 2018 Best of Show awards highlighted outstanding products exhibited at ISTE. A panel of professional users and editors selected the products having the most impact in the classroom and the greatest potential to be game changers in education technology as the winners. The judges rated their impressions on a sliding scale, evaluating areas such as quality and effectiveness, ease of use and creative use of technology. They then met in person to decide which technologies will have the most impact in the classroom and deserved to be named Best of Show.
“Once again, the ISTE show floor was inundated with edtech—from the latest in coding, robotics and makerspace gear to sophisticated upgrades in interactive hardware offerings,” said Tech & Learning’sManaging Director of Content Kevin Hogan. “And once again, our expert panel of judges kicked the tires. It’s a yeoman’s task and we take it seriously in selecting these companies and their products.”
Developed specifically to enhance core English Language Arts instruction for non-proficient readers in grades 6 and above, PowerUp identifies skill gaps and provides personalized learning paths in word study, grammar and comprehension. With a range of relevant, high-interest authentic texts; instructional videos; and game-based motivational elements, the program is designed to help students take ownership of their learning, acknowledging their growing autonomy and building their confidence. PowerUp empowers secondary teachers—regardless of their background or expertise in reading—to deliver the exact instruction each student needs to become a proficient reader.
PowerUp is the newest addition to Lexia’s pre-K–12 portfolio of literacy solutions. The company’s award-winning Lexia Reading Core5 program is research-proven to accelerate the development of fundamental literacy skills for students of all abilities in grades pre-K–5. Lexia RAPID Assessment is a computer-adaptive universal screener for K-12 students that assesses the skills most predictive of end-of-year reading success. Lexia has designed each of these products to address the specific needs of the target age group, whether emergent readers or adolescent readers.
“For more than 30 years, Lexia has been dedicated to improving student’s reading proficiency and providing them with the literacy skills critical to succeed in college and careers,” said Lexia President Nick Gaehde.“We’re honored to have been recognized for this award and selected as one of the top products at ISTE this year.”
