Write Now: Arguing for Change
published
Arguing for Change is a web-based literacy experience for young writers. Students are presented with a scenario of bullying and are asked to write an "argument for change" as a way to get classmates to stop bullying. It guides students through a process of researching, organizing information, and writing an argument about a specific topic or idea through the lens of a particular kind of writing. In preparing their argumentative piece, students are guided to examine fiction and nonfiction resources, videos, web interactives, and artwork and photography. They are also given a self-evaluating rubric and research questions to help guide their writing.
