Virtual Midnight Ride
published
You know the poem—’twas the 18th of April in ’75. Longfellow took poetic license in describing Paul Revere’s famous ride to warn the colonists about the British arrival in Boston, but he certainly made that ride an important part of our history. This virtual map shows the routes of Paul Revere, William Dawes, and Dr. Samuel Prescott in their attempts to sound the alarm while also evading the British patrols. Click on the illustrations on the map to go to pictures and primary source materials that relate to the activities of that fateful night. There isn’t a link for the tower of the Old North Church, but you’ll learn about many other important places.
