Located in Victoria, Texas, Victoria Independent School District has 24 campuses serving grades preK-12. The Web site houses both relatively static information such as district job descriptions, policy manuals, and action plans and dynamic features including numerous streaming video clips, online courses for students, and digital learning for staff members.
How to use the site:
Parents, staff, and community members visit the site to find everything from basic district information and program descriptions to links to local and state education resources. The Showcase page features both student and staff work, much of which is presented through streaming video clips. There are also several free digital training sessions for adults covering mandated topics such as Bloodborne Pathogens. Although you must be a VISD employee to take the online exam, the tutorials are great models for other districts. The Safe Computing area includes good information about anti-virus and anti-spam software, e-mail hoaxes, and online scams.
