Susan Kramer: Singing While Dancing to Learn Basic Math

This site shows you how to use singing and movement to reinforce counting, addition, subtraction, and the understanding of sets. By marching, galloping, sliding, skipping, and swinging their arms, children can learn by using many senses. Susan Kramer includes sketches of how to do each movement and describes the movement as well. You can read the music or listen to the songs that go with each set of lyrics. By incorporating movement and singing into math instruction, all students will benefit, and it’s a fun way to mix up learning. The songs are easy to sing for even the most tone-deaf among us. This could easily be adapted for multiplication and division practice.
