Palo Alto Middle School Research Center
Name:Palo Alto Middle School Research Center
Brief Description of the Site:
Three library/media specialists in Palo Alto, CA have teamed up to create a shared online research center for students at three different middle schools. It enables students to find recommended Web sites related to the curriculum for sixth, seventh and eighth graders, allowing them to do quality research without getting "lost" on the Internet. There are also links to each individual library/media center.
How to use the site:
Middle School students in the Palo Alto Unified School District use this site for guided research on curriculum topics as well as to access links to quality research sites. When they require additional assistance, students use the links to the three different school libraries to contact the librarians at each school. General areas provide access to search engines, local and national libraries, homework and bibliography help, reference materials, and teacher resources. By teaming up, these library/media specialists are able to work together to provide quality information for all middle school students in the district!
