Name:Half Hollow Hills Central School District
The Half Hollow Hills Central School District is located on Long Island and serves nearly 10,000 students in grades K-12. The district Web site is attractive and easy for parents and other visitors to navigate. The unique feature of this site is the Student Gallery, used to celebrate student and faculty work throughout the district.
How to use the site:
The lessons contained in the Student Gallery show how teachers have fused technology with "best practices" in teaching to enrich and enhance learning for all students. All posted activities shift learning from teacher-directed to student-centered, transferring responsibility for active learning to the students. During new teacher orientation the gallery serves to exemplify the uses of technology throughout the district. Many of the teachers who have contributed to the site also use it during technology presentations and workshops.
