Gaps in Student Career Skills
A recent study from Adobe, “Seeking Creative Candidates: Hiring for the Future,” offered insight into how hiring managers view creativity in job candidates.
Top findings:
► 94 percent of hiring managers prefer candidates with creative skills over conventional skills.
► 75 percent agreed that the job market will change significantly over the next five years and identified technological skills and creativity as essential skills of the future.
► 45 percent viewed problem-solving and critical thinking as skills that are highly lacking among members of the current generation.
► 54 percent recommend developing courses and training opportunities that better prepare candidates.
► 38 percent feel rewarding innovation and creativity in schools and the workplace is important.
► 33 percent voted for requirements for technical majors to take creative courses.
