Kindergartners have trouble thinking about the end of the day, much less what they might do for the whole year, but this lesson plan might help them think long range. Using the picture book Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution, have students think about what it means to make resolutions and why they might be important. The lesson plan is well laid out and very detailed. Included is writing paper your students can use to write their own resolutions. The lesson could be adapted for use with older students too.
