Annenberg Learner: 3D Shapes
Having an understanding of geometric principles and the vocabulary of geometry is important in the the greater scheme of a strong mathematics background. This interactive from Annenberg Learner can be used individually by students or as whole class instruction. The four lessons examine 3D shapes, surface area and volume, Euler’s theorem, and Platonic solids. When these four lessons are completed, there is an assessment. There is also an extensive glossary of geometric terms. There are opportunities in each lesson to interact with the polyhedrons on the computer. In examining Platonic solids, you can print off foldable shapes to help in determining faces, vertices, and edges. This is an excellent interactive to use for hands-on review.
