Utah automates student data collection
The Utah State Office of Education (USOE) has selected Pearson to design, integrate and deliver the federally funded Utah e-Transcript and Record Exchange (UTREx) project. UTREx will help track student performance and fulfill the need for more automated and timely student data collection and distribution.
Pearson, with its partner Choice Solutions, signed a USOE contract in December 2010 to implement a new system using Pearson’s Vertical Reporting FrameworkTM (VRF) and the Choice edFusion® Data Warehouse. These solutions together will enable the automated collection and storage of Clearinghouse files from Utah school districts.
With VRF, the USOE will be able to perform statewide management of local education agency (LEA) data collection, validation and submission – from multiple student information systems – across multiple communications channels. VRF will make it possible for Utah districts to quickly and easily collect, review and cleanse data in their student information systems. The collected files will then be validated and loaded into the new Clearinghouse Database which will provide the USOE with an adaptable and expandable data management and reporting platform.
“The USOE is at the forefront of student data collection and exchange system innovation, and we look forward to working closely with them to create the framework that will shape and drive Utah’s education future,” said Steve Curtis, President of Pearson’s Data Solutions Group.
