Ericom Software, provider of application access and desktop virtualization solutions, today announced that Richland School District Two has licensed Ericom AccessNow™ for VMware View™, for use by its 30,000 students and staff.
Ericom AccessNow for VMware View will be deployed across its 35 K-12 schools, as part of the South Carolina district’s “1 Two 1” computing initiative for making a computer available to each student in grades three through 12. The computers offer students the opportunity to experience the real work of mathematicians, scientists, composers, authors and engineers. The initiative includes professional development that supports integration into the curriculum and opportunities for parents to learn more about technology and how they can help their children use it wisely at school and at home.
Ericom AccessNow for VMware View will enable Richland School District Two to provide students and staff with access to educational applications, such as MAP®, ALEKS®, as well as other Windows applications like Microsoft Office and Adobe® Creative Suite, and educational websites, both from school and from home. They will be able to use these applications from any device with an HTML5-supported browser, including Chromebooks.
Ericom AccessNow for VMware View runs wholly within an HTML5 compatible browser and does not require any client software installation on the end-user device.
