Solve for Tomorrow Awards
Senator John McCain with students and teachers from Desert Wind Middle School (in Maricopa, AZ). The students were honored for their project about improving local air quality.Samsung announced the following winners of its Solve for Tomorrow contest, a competition to raise enthusiasm for STEM education among U.S. public school students:
* Students from Jefferson Township Middle School of Oak Ridge, NJ, were honored for their project focused on bringing awareness to an issue with invasive plants and animals in their local lakes, and an idea for a mobile app that would help the community protect and preserve its lakes.
* Students and teachers from Desert Wind Middle School of Maricopa, AZ were honored for their project about improving local air quality.
* Students and teachers from Schoharie High School of Schoharie, NY, were honored for their project about restoring soil quality for local farms after a major flood in 2011.
Each of the winning schools received $100,000 worth of technology for their projects.
