Rockwood School District Goes Digital to Track Staff Compliance Training
With 4,000 staff members to train, the Rockwood School District in Eureka, MO needed an easier way to ensure that all staff members were completing their six annual, and mandatory, compliance trainings. To help streamline this process, the district implemented the online training module offered by PublicSchoolWORKS, a Cincinnati-based company that offers fully-automated risk management for schools. Rockwood School District’s implementation automated the process of notifying staff of their required training, as well as alerting them when deadlines are approaching.
“We were trying to track 4,000 training logs, which was difficult and labor intensive,” said Katie Reboulet, director of human resources at the Rockwood School District. “This was all done by paper, meaning that at the beginning of every year, the Human Resources Department had 4,000 pieces of paper to keep track of. Then we were tasked with pursuing those employees who did not complete the training. Now it is all automated.”
The Staff Training System automatically informs staff which training courses they need to take and by when, all via email. If a staff member does not complete their required training after several auto-emailed reminders, then it automatically sends reports to the appropriate administrator so they can get involved.
“Within one week of the compliance due date, all of our staff had completed their training,” said Reboulet. “The best thing is that we can now easily ensure that our employees have completed the training. At my fingertips, I have the ability to pull a real-time report to identify which employees have completed training. The difference between this automated system and our former paper-based one is night and day.”
