Program list in alphabetical order
Question: The program list on my PC is in the order the applications were installed. It would be a lot easier to find things if they were in alphabetical order. How can I change that?
The IT Guy says:
When you go to Start and All Programs on your Windows computer, they are typically displayed in the order they were installed. If you only have a few programs, this isn't such a big deal, but have installed a lot of programs (or perhaps your kids have installed a lot of programs), that kind of random organization can get pretty frustrating.
The good news is that this is easy to change. Go to Start and All Programs, and then right-click on any folder or program on the list (it doesn't matter which one). On the menu that pops up, select Sort by name. The entire program list will now be sorted in alphabetical order. The only fly in the ointment is that folders will be in one A-Z set, and then standalone application files will be in a second A-Z set. It's still a big improvement over random distribution, however!
