Partnership Supports District’s BYOD, Cloud and Online Testing Initiatives
To support online testing initiatives and network integration, Chelmsford Public School District has partnered with Enterasys Networks, a Siemens Enterprise Communications Company, to deliver wired and wireless coverage. Enterasys’ solutions interoperate with Chelmsford’s multi-vendor network to provide BYOD and online assessment readiness.
Located in Chelmsford, MA, the Chelmsford Public School District serves 5,800 students, faculty and staff at one pre-school, four elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and school administration offices.
Chelmsford is actively preparing for technology requirements around Common Core online assessments and Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). The school district has taken steps to increase the number of computers and iPads on the network to enable every student to take online tests at the same time.
Enterasys’ OneFabric architecture allows Chelmsford’s two-person IT staff to manage thousands of devices on the network across the school district’s nine locations. Staff are able to gain network access from home via the cloud.
On the new network, Chelmsford’s IT team has been able to support 47 applications running across the district and 33 different applications running on iPads.
