In celebration of Technology & Learning's 25th anniversary, this month's cover feature visits the past, present, and future of technology in education, with an emphasis on the journey that has lead the industry to where it is today.
For the veterans among you, the timeline of Technology & Learning cover images highlighting hot issues of the day might evoke a bit of nostalgia. And for those of you newer to the profession, I hope you'll consider it a handy at-a-glance tutorial on the evolution of the industry.
In addition to the magazine's fresh new look, you'll see some changes in format and content that were instituted in response to readership surveys and polls. The brand-new Emerging Tech column, kicked off this month by David Warlick's podcasting piece, will look to the future with a variety of viewpoints and predictions from industry experts. Grants, Contests, and Awards has become Bottom Line, and you'll now be able to turn to author Susan Brooks-Young for tips on a range of funding topics as well as for the usual up-to-the-minute grants. Other departments will continue to bring you the same content you've come to rely on but will feature new names: Trend Watch has become News and Trends, Web Sightings is now Web Tour, and Product Spotlight is now Product Guide.
Technology & Learning will also be bringing you the third in a series of special anniversary reports this November. Watch for "Envisioning the Future," in which education leaders share their thoughts on what school will look like in the year 2030.
Finally, don't forget the magazine's Leader of the Year and Portraits of Learning awards programs. The respective deadlines are September 29 and October 15, with contest details available at www.techlearning.com. We're looking forward to judging this year's entries.
