The board of the Murphysboro (IL) Community Unit School District 186 has approved creation of a chief information officer position while eliminating the curriculum director’s post. Those duties are being given to school principals and improvement teams upon the retirement of longtime Director Brenda Jones, who will leave the district after three decades of service.
Steve Carrington, current school district technology director, will assume the CIO role effective July 1, while a search is conducted to find his replacement.
