Flagler County Public Schools (FCPS) in Bunnell, FL has adopted Teachscape, whose online training and tools aim to help teachers and administrators in the high-performing district to collaborate on professional learning based on teacher evaluations using Charlotte Danielson’s 2013 Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument (FFT).
“Teachscape is a first-class organization that will provide our educators with the training and support needed to help them excel,” said Vernon Orndorff, Race to the Top coordinator of Flagler County Public Schools. “By investing in our educators and their continual professional growth, we are investing in our students and their future.”
Through the use of the Teachscape Focus observation training and assessment system, administrators and teachers can develop a common understanding of the FFT and gain confidence that the evaluation process will be fair and reliable. The Teachscape Reflect observation and evaluation management system helps administrators and teachers focus on specific areas in which teachers can build their skills and collaborate on their professional learning, at both the individual and school level.
“Evaluations are done with teachers, not to teachers,” said Orndorff. “We recognize that teacher evaluations are a high-stakes process and we want to do everything possible to ensure they are conducted collaboratively in a fair and reliable way.”
