District Selects SIS, IMS
Pearson has announced that Pascagoula School District, MS, selected Pearson’s PowerSchool as its new web-based student information system (SIS) and Schoolnet as its new Instructional Management Suite (IMS). This combination of Pearson products will serve Pascagoula’s more than 7,000 students.
“Pascagoula School District chose PowerSchool and Schoolnet for many reasons, but primarily because they will let us achieve our vision for a unified and comprehensive student information and academic management system,” said Dr. Douglas Belk, Pascagoula IT director. “We’re looking forward to a system that allows for a unified login and more modern and appealing features for teachers, students, parents, and administrators, all while providing easy access to reports and results that let us make data-driven decisions.”
PowerSchool and Schoolnet will serve as the technology backbone for Pascagoula School District, with PowerSchool managing all student information, such as grades, attendance, schedules, transcripts, medical and disciplinary history, Mississippi State Reporting, and more. Schoolnet will provide educators with curriculum, instruction, assessment, and reporting tools. Both systems are integrated with single sign-on and data sharing to simplify the end user experience.
Pascagoula School District expects to complete the implementation of PowerSchool in July, 2012, and Schoolnet later in the summer.
