Colorado District Selects LMS
Cherry Creek School District in Colorado recently purchased Schoology for every school in the district. Reasons cited by the district for selecting Schoology as its learning management system (LMS) include its integration with PowerSchool ® student information system (SIS).
“Schoology met a number of our needs for improved communication and collaboration, but the management features and tie in to PowerSchool were very important for our district,” said Kellie Ady, coordinator of instructional technology at Cherry Creek School District. “Schoology allows us to cleanly and easily share content and data between multiple systems. We can do tasks we never could before, like automatically grab enrollment data and share that with our PowerSchool SIS.”
Schoology also allows teachers to embed and use resources from other third-party vendors.
“Schoology has an intuitive user interface that encourages teachers to hop on board,” said Ms. Ady. “A large group of early adopters were teachers who haven’t always been comfortable using technology in the classroom. Schoology helped them embrace a digital teaching and learning environment in new ways.”
Cherry Creek teachers are using Schoology for professional development and peer collaboration with PLCs and in their own classrooms. Schoology is helping teachers explore new instructional goals like assessment and standards alignment and using rubrics for grading.
“Parent communication is amped up with Schoology,” said Ms. Ady. “With PowerSchool, parents can monitor their child’s progress but Schoology invites parents to be an active participant in learning. The combination of Schoology with PowerSchool is very powerful.”
