Clovis USD chooses thin clients for 1:1
With over 37,500 students in 42 schools, the Clovis Unified School District’s goal of 1:1 computing for students is ambitious, to say the least. The district, located in California’s San Joaquin Valley, is coming closer to achieving its goal through the implementation of Wyse thin clients.
Due to the high cost and maintenance and the support issues of personal computers, the district decided that thin client laboratories would be the simplest and most efficient means of providing as many students as possible with computers. The district praised the centralized management and reliability offered in the Wyse clients.
Currently, the district has 1,200 of the thin clients deployed throughout 34 computer labs, with more planned for the future. Since the devices are centrally managed, all computer labs can be remotely managed by a single person. Additionally, the computers are simpler to operate than standard PCs, making it easy for younger students to readily learn computer skills.
