Channing Hall K-8 Charter School Implements Classroom Amplification System
Listen Technologies Corporation, designer, manufacturer and distributor of assistive listening products, recently saw the implementation of its ListenPoint 2.0 soundfield solutions at Channing Hall, a Draper, Utah K-8 charter school operating under the guidelines of the International Baccalaureate.
First grade teacher Jessica Short faced a common challenge for teachers: making sure she is heard clearly by each student in the classroom. Despite her best efforts, she often found her students at the back of the classroom could not hear her when she was instructing from the front of the room and vice versa. Short was also irritated by the fact that every time she wanted to incorporate music or media into a lesson, she would have to walk to her computer, taking time away from her lessons and students. Short found her solution in the ListenPoint 2.0 system.
Soundfield systems such as the ListenPoint 2.0 incorporate AV technology and assistive listening systems so that all students can have the opportunity to hear their teacher clearly. Teachers can include music, video, and Internet connectivity for added enhancement.
After the installation of the ListenPoint 2.0 in Short’s first grade classroom, her students became more engaged in the learning process and participating more in her lessons. Now, she is looking forward to teaching a new class of first graders to read next year.
“ListenPoint 2.0 helps my students hear me clearly," said Short. "I love that I can use my music for my lessons and control it from the microphone. It’s very easy to use. Even my students use it when they give their presentations.”
