Atlanta Public Schools to Implement Online Safety Training
Atlanta Public Schools has adopted the SafeSchools Online Staff Training System to help increase staff and student safety throughout its 105 buildings. Nearly 7,000 Atlanta Public Schools staff members now have access to hundreds of online courses covering school safety topics.
The district selected SafeSchools Training as its training and compliance provider because the program provides resources for support staff, and it integrates with the district’s existing professional learning management system through Truenorthlogic.
“SafeSchools Training courses are short and easy for our staff to take and understand, so it’s very impactful in a short period of time,” said Janet Johnson, learning management specialist for Atlanta Public Schools. “We love the flexibility that online training provides because we can have staff train individually in SafeSchools Training, or we can use the courses in a meeting or group setting for blended, group learning. SafeSchools Training is a very versatile training option for our district.”
The SafeSchools Training System integrates with Atlanta Public Schools’ online professional learning management system, MyPLC, giving staff a single-sign-on solution. All SafeSchools Training courses are available through MyPLC, and course completions are automatically tracked in both systems. Once a course is complete, the user receives immediate credit for the course in both systems.
