Arlington, VA Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Information Systems.

The 30-school district, with a diverse and sophisticated student body of 19,600 students from 127 countries, sets high academic standards and offers advanced electronic classrooms and technology to support instruction and administrative functions. Position Overview

The Assistant Superintendent for Information Systems will collaboratively establish the mission and vision for the Information Systems Department, lead the technical services and enterprise solutions functions, support the planning, evaluation and instructional technology departments, serve as systems architect, provide accounting leadership and represent the department to the Board of Education, Administration and District personnel.

Desired Characteristics and Credentials

The ideal candidate will offer exemplary planning and leadership skills, extensive knowledge of IT systems design and operations, and a successful record in implementing new technology. A masters degree and five years’ experience in information systems management in large-scale organizations or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Virginia school administrator’s license is not required.

The salary will be not less than $139,600 plus benefit package, with the actual salary to be based on preparation and experience. The starting date is July 1, 2010 or by mutual agreement.
