Early Reading Assessment Adopts Speech Recognition Technology

published Today, assessment solutions provider NWEA announced the launch of a new early reading assessment for kids in K-3 called MAP Reading Fluency that uses speech recognition, automatic scoring and computer adaptive technology.
MAP Reading Fluency utilizes speech recognition and pronunciation scoring technology, rather than relying on human judgment and individual administration.
It was developed in partnership with LanguaMetrics, Inc. provider of speech-enabled education applications.
The technology adapts for different grade levels, and can accommodate both native and non-native speakers.
