Baltimore County Public Schools Adopts Aerohive Networking Solution
Aerohive Networks® today announced that Baltimore County Public Schools has deployed Aerohive’s controller-less networking solution to provide Wi-Fi access to over 110,000 students and 18,000 faculty across 174 schools.
County Public Schools (BCPS), the third largest school district in the state of Maryland and the 25th largest district in the nation, provides education to approximately 110,000 students at 174 schools and employs more than 18,000 teachers and staff. The district recognized the need for an in-depth evaluation to replace its aging wireless network in order to provide coverage across all campuses, including 174 schools, 20 plus administrative buildings, 19 local public libraries and two data centers. After evaluating several networking vendors, the district selected Aerohive.
BCPS has deployed more than 10,000 Aerohive access points (AP), including the AP121, AP170,AP330, AP350, AP370 and AP230,across all campuses and administrative buildings. On average, the district has 45,000 users connected to the network daily, and is anticipating that number rise to 100,000 users per day on the network by next year.
BCPS is also using Aerohive’s HiveManager® Virtual Appliance which enables a small IT team to quickly make changes across the network from one console, in one location.
