Today's Newsletter: The University of Everywhere
The Tech&Learning newsfeeds are ripe with edtech as disruptor essays, many due to the recent release of Kevin Carey’s The End of College, Creating the Future of Learning and the University of Everywhere. This piece in the Economist tracks the persistent rise of MOOCs in higher education and points to Carey’s predictions of electronic badges as the new sheepskin. The New York Times reviews both Carey and Times columnist Frank Bruni’s new book Where You Go Is Not Who’ll You Be with a generally positive lens. Over at U.S. News and World Report however, Robert Pondiscio believes Carey’s obituary for traditional colleges is a bit premature. I am hoping to track down Carey to get his thoughts on what impact his predictions may have on k-12 education. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
