The 1:1 Explosion
Despite recent headlines reporting less-than-stellar 1:1 deployments, mainstream educators seem to be moving towards online learning and 1:1 environments with a new urgency. I am not sure what events inspired this movement, but at every turn I am seeing workshops, conferences, and other events discussing 1:1 and online learning. Instead of simply jumping on the bandwagon, it might be a good time to ensure one has a strong grasp of the research regarding these two innovations. Some good sources for online learning research include Digital Bridges, Project Red, K-12 Blueprint, and iNACOL's research summary. The1:1 Institute is another wealth of resources. What research, data, and matrices do you consider to justify increases in online learning and 1:1 programs? Leave a comment here.
