Aspire Public Schools today announced that it is expanding its blended learning program to five Aspire schools in Oakland and Los Angeles and opening two new blended learning schools in Memphis, Tennessee. Aspire is a charter management organization serving more than two-thirds low-income students in California, with 12,500 students in 34 schools across the state.
Developed over the last two years at Aspire ERES Academy in Oakland, Aspire’s blended learning approach allows teachers to personalize instruction for and spend more one-on-one time with students. This is facilitated through a rotational model, which combines small-group teacher instruction with computer-based learning at various times during the school day. Blended learning also enables teachers to quickly adapt instruction to the Common Core State Standards and measure student progress in mastering required concepts.
