Autism Speaks and AT&T are teaming up to host a mobile app development competition, or a “hackathon,” and they’re seeking ideas for new apps.
Through Sunday, Feb. 3, the two organizations are “crowdsourcing” and asking those close to autism to submit ideas in the app idea contest on Autism Speak’s Facebook page. The public can share the most helpful app concepts in four categories: apps for those on the autism spectrum who are verbal, non-verbal, school-aged (K-12) and adults.
On Feb. 11, finalists will be announced, and the public will be able to vote for their favorite app ideas. The winning concepts of this contest will then be incorporated into the upcoming hackathon where programmers will learn about developing mobile apps for those on the autism spectrum and compete to bring the ideas to life.
