Eli Manning helps honor technology prize winners
Samsung’s philanthropic initiative Four Seasons of Hope, with help from New York Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning, Best Buy, Microsoft, and DIRECTV gave away $1 million in technology products, software, educational programming and grants to 21 deserving schools today. At the New York awards event, Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo, CA was unveiled as the winner of the grand prize - a $210,000 technology prize package.
The finalist schools were nominated by parents, students, teachers and principals who submitted essays online about how their favorite school would benefit from improved technology tools in the classroom. A panel of expert judges narrowed the field to the 21 finalists and, Capistrano Valley High School and its nominating essay, written by parent Wendy Harder, were voted the best by more than 200,000 public online votes.
