Texas district wins 2010 technology award
The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) today presented its 2010 TEAM Award to the Irving Independent School District (ISD), located in Irving, TX. The Irving ISD technology team was selected as this year’s winner for its visionary leadership in using technology to innovate, increase opportunities for learning, facilitate dialogue between teachers, parents and the community, and actively share its best practices.
The Irving ISD was an early adopter of one-to-one technology, and for nearly a decade, the district has conducted a laptop program that has provided more than 12,000 laptops to teachers and students. The district’s one-to-one program has been so successful that the technology team has hosted three national symposiums aimed at sharing its best practices with educators across the country.
