Tech & Learning magazine honored

Tech & Learning magazine has been honored with three awards, including one gold, from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) in their 32nd annual Azbee Awards of Excellence Competition. Tech & Learning received the regional gold award for Best Special Section, and national silver and bronze awards for Best How-To Article and Best Product Section, respectively.

“We are honored to be included with the many prestigious journals recognized by the Azbee awards,” says Kevin Hogan, Editorial Director of Tech & Learning. “The Tech & Learning editorial team has consistently produced quality content for 30 years, so it is a fitting tribute that their work is again recognized by the esteemed ASBPE association.”

School CIO, written by Tech & Learning’s editorial staff, was given the top regional award for Best Special Section. Each month, School CIO provides high-quality ideas, strategies, and resources for senior-level technology leaders in K-12 school districts. School CIO and its companion web site, www.schoolcio.com, were previously honored by ASBPE in 2005 and 2007.

The Best How-To Article, “Eight Ways to Use School Wikis,” was featured in the August 2009 issue and written by TechLearning.com blogger Lisa Nielsen, who also serves as the Technology Innovation Manager for the New York City Department of Education. The article received the national silver award in its category.

Tech & Learning’s Product Guide, which uses several unique mini-case studies to offer fair and balanced reviews of different product types each month, was given a national bronze award for Best Product Section.

Tech & Learning also was a finalist in the Western Publishing Association’s 59th annual “Maggie” Awards competition in the following categories: Best Computer Trade Journal, Best Use of Social Media, Best Series of Articles (“Follow the Money”), and Best How-To Article for “6 Ways Librarians Can Teach Social Media.”
