Secretary Duncan meets with Top Young Scientist.
On Oct. 8, 2009,U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and Assistant to the President for Science and Technology Dr. John P. Holdren, met with Marina Dimitrov of Bozeman, Mont., the grand prize winner of the 11th Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
"Marina's outstanding performance throughout the competition embodies the creativity and spirit of innovation I want to see in every classroom in the nation," Secretary Duncan said.
In addition to having the opportunity to meet with Secretary Duncan and Assistant to the President Dr. Holdren, Dimitrov has captured the title of "America's Top Young Scientist," $50,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds ($25,000 cash value) as well as a trip to 3M headquarters to meet with some of the world's leading scientists.
