Do we have to talk about it? I guess we do. Last week Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos spoke at Davos in the Desert aka the ASU+GSV conference in Salt Lake City and the reaction has been mixed at best. Matt Bruderle at the Hechinger report summed it up this way: "[This event] gave her an unprecedented opportunity to speak with a non-confrontational audience on innovation and technology in schools. She didn’t take it, however, and never went beyond the usual talking points about expanding school choice as the best option for helping children stuck in struggling schools." Tony Wan at Edsurge was more blunt: "As the head and face of the federal education department, DeVos seemed almost hell-bent on doing less." And Google as I might, I couldn’t find a positive word. Let me know if I’m missing something. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
