Today's Newsletter: The Case For Digital Equity
Every kid deserves access. It’s the right idea. But making that idea a reality is easier said than done. The Seattle Times digs into the inequities found in the district’s library system: “The very students that most clearly benefit from a quality library are also the least likely to have access to one.” Keith Kruger, CEO for COSN and Tech&Learning 2015 most influential honoree, recently spoke to his organization's recent report, which cites three “gap” issues facing face schools and families—a device gap, a broadband access gap and a gap in technical literacy—broadband is currently the most important. And as usual, the Atlantic posts a thoughtful picture piece on the subject. We’ll continue to track this burgeoning issue in the lead up to our fall SchoolCIO Summit, which will search for solutions. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
