Today's Newsletter: All about the access
One of the more prominent themes I picked up during the TCEA show last week was the growing importance of digital equity and student access to the Internet. The message from vendors and educators alike was no longer one of getting technology into a child’s hand—it’s safe to say they have something, if only a smartphone—it was about being able to be online with it, both in the classroom and at home. This NPR Radio article posted this weekend reiterates this meme and points to this recent study from Sesame Workshop that analyzes what access really means for low income families. But while the concept of universal student access is obvious, the logistical reality gets complicated very quickly. Tech&Learning will be digging deeper into this issue in the coming year. —Kevin Hogan, Content Director
