Some irrational fears of kids using technology are not too far down the list from imminent ISIS invasion. The handwringing escalates around holiday time. In the UK, the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills recently came out with this officious warning: “Pupils bringing personal devices such as laptops or tablets into school can be extremely disruptive and make it difficult for teachers to teach.” Read another fear-mongering piece in Slate this month: “In this season of gift-giving, permit me to offer some advice: Don't buy your child any toy that connects to the Internet, unless you're comfortable with the possibility that the toy will expose information about your kid to hackers.” Please, what exactly will hackers do with Johnny’s inane anonymous chats?—Kevin Hogan, Content Director
