Fuel Education’s “Benchmark Study 2015: Best Practices for Implementing Successful Online Programs” gathered information about the best practices for online and blended learning in K–12 schools. An overwhelming majority (91%) of educators said that a “rigorous and engaging curriculum” is the most important factor for the success of online programs. In addition, nearly two-thirds (66%) of leaders also said they address near-term issues with online programs because they:
● Provide access to courses not otherwise available
● Provide flexibility in terms of the time and place students can access courses
● Offer a personalized learning experience.
Fifty-nine percent of respondents cited retaining students in the district as a top reason for using online courses, while 57 percent want to improve graduation rates.
