Side by Side: Palm OS and Pocket PC

Two operating systems currently dominate the handheld market: Palm OS and Pocket PC. Palm OS ships with Palm devices, and it is licensed to other manufacturers including Handspring and Sony. Pocket PC runs on all Pocket PC devices made by Casio, Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, and Toshiba. The devices differ in form factor, with Palm OS devices typically smaller with lower power requirements, and Pocket PCs slightly larger with greater power requirements.
