Site of the Day

Name: Northport Middle School

Brief Description of the Site:
Located on the north shore of Long Island NY, Northport Middle school is home to 800 students in grades 6 through 8. The target audience for this site is parents, and the easy navigation makes it possible for them to find daily announcements, homework assignments, monthly calendars, PTSA news, and other items quickly.

How to use the site:
You'll find up-to-date newsletters from the principal and the PTSA, along with a daily school bulletin. The homework area is a nice feature for students whose teachers post reminders there. Drop down menus make it easy to quickly find teachers at each grade level and access assignments in just one click. While not all teachers use this feature, a few random clicks showed that many do, and do a good job keeping up with regular postings. A visit to the Students section enables you to review various projects posted since 1999.
