Question:
We run Win 2000 (Server and on desktops). Students log on as users. Macromedia Shockwave gave us a fit. How do you recommend that we load on each computer so that each user can use it without going through a reinstall each time.
The IT Guy says:
If you install a program in Windows 2000 or XP with an administrator account, all users on that computer should have access to the installed program. Without having more information about your situation, I am guessing that as each student logged into the computer, they were trying to view Shockwave content and doing their own installation of Shockwave. By logging in as an administrator and installing the software, this situation should be averted. I would recommend using a disk cloning utility like Symantec Ghost or Altiris Lab Management Suite to duplicate an existing hard drive image throughout a computer lab or campus.
