Internet Connection Speed

Question: How can I test the speed of the Internet connection for a specific computer?

The IT Guy says:
A variety of free, web-based tools are available to test Internet connection speeds. These primarily test downstream connection speeds, meaning the speed at which Internet content is downloaded to your computer. Sample sites include bandwidthplace.com and mcafee.com/speedometer. A wide variety of factors determine Internet connection speed, however, so results may vary from site to site.
